Nielsen TV Audience Measurement data helps you get a richer view of TV audiences because of the breadth of the panel as well as census methodologies we employ.
Our panel measurement offerings include:
National sample - For national audience measurement, we provide data from a statistically selected sample of more than 9,000 households, containing over 18,000 people who have agreed to participate.
Local sample - Nielsen measures 210 local television markets, which we call DMA® (Designated Market Area) regions. Of these, the 56 largest are measured by meter technology. The remaining smaller markets are measured by paper diaries only. In 19 local markets Nielsen has special Hispanic measurement and reporting. In 14 of these markets diaries are used; in one market Nielsen uses set meters and diaries and in 4 markets Local People Meters are used for measurement.
Hispanic sample - Nielsens National Hispanic People Meter sample consists of a panel of 1,000 Hispanic TV households equipped with Nielsen People Meters. The sample is designed to represent the entire U.S. Hispanic TV population in its proper proportion for language spoken in the home, geography, and Hispanic penetration.
Our census measurement offerings feature:
Nielsen DigitalPlus provides advanced tuning metrics based on data retrieved from digital set top boxes (STBs). These data, combined with Nielsens traditional measurement, allow clients to create new insights by evaluating digital media activity and gauging its potential impact on consumer behavior.
